Liselotte McQuien profile details
About Liselotte
I was born and raised in Belgium and moved to Texas as a pre-teen, an experience that enriched my understanding of cultural diversity and deepened my ability to empathize with others, regardless of their background.
I quickly discovered a passion for connecting with people, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in counseling.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Baylor University in 2015 and my Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University in 2020. In 2021, I co-authored a publication in the Journal of Affective Disorders on psychosocial interventions for perinatal women with bipolar disorder.
Specialisms
I specialize in treating mood disorders, emotional regulation challenges, and interpersonal difficulties, with a particular focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I also enjoy integrating mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques into my sessions.
That said, I strongly believe therapy should be tailored to each individual's unique needs. My approach is collaborative, and I work closely with clients to develop treatment plans that align with their goals.
Dealing with struggles
My work as a case manager for individuals experiencing homelessness in Dallas, along with my later experience in a private practice focused on addiction, has shaped my belief that many of our struggles stem from our internal dialogue and intense reactions to triggering situations.
My goal is to help clients examine those thoughts and responses, build effective coping strategies, and discover new ways of thinking, so they can feel more at ease and lead more fulfilling lives.
"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
- Viktor Frankl

Ways we can work together
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if you are the right counselor for me?
Counseling is a uniquely personal journey that is different for everyone. What works for some may not work for others.
I highly encourage you to start with a 15 minute free consultation to ask about my approaches to therapy and what the expectations are.
If you feel like we are not a good fit for whatever reason, I am always happy to provide you with referrals for other counselors. Counseling is about getting your goals met!
What is DBT and CBT?
DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy and is an evidence-based therapy to help build skills for intense emotions, improve your relationships, and reduce self-destructive behaviors. I utilize DBT informed skills into our therapy sessions where it is useful.
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is an evidence-based therapy to help change unhelpful thinking and behavioral patterns. I utilize this in therapy sessions by identifying the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and collaboratively creating healthier coping mechanisms.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and can offer a superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How much does it cost?
My standard fee is $175 per 50 minute session. I reserve a number of spots for reduced fee options on a case-by-case basis.
Those who are able to afford the standard fee make it possible for others to access high-quality therapy services.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Both! My office is located in Fort Worth and I also see clients via telehealth upon request.
Telehealth has proven to be a convenient source when is necessary for clients who are ill, unable to find transportation to the session, or live not near the DFW area (within TX).
All telehealth sessions are conducted using a HIPAA compliant video platform.
