About Susan
I am a full-time HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist (PYL046201) in Independent Practice, fully qualified, insured, ICO registered, with Safeguarding Adults Level 3, Safeguarding Children Level 3, Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme membership for regulated roles with children and adults and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate.
I work with private Psychology clients with Bupa health insurance cover. I work with private Psychology & Professional Development clients who self-fund sessions.
I provide one-to-one Psychology sessions with people aged 13+ at varying times.
My approach to psychological therapy is client-centred, collaborative, research-informed, evidence-based and open-ended.
I can use person-centred therapy, bereavement counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-focused ACT and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
With your consent at every step in our therapeutic plan, I can integrate multiple therapies and make adaptations to ensure our work in sessions meets you where you are, at your pace, and with care.
Attending a discovery consultation
If I can be helpful for what brings you to therapy right now, I will suggest arranging a discovery consultation. This is a confidential, practical and supportive one-to-one session of up to 90 minutes.
As a Counselling Psychologist, I have training and experience inside and outside the NHS, working with the psychological impact (including trauma) of addiction, cancer, neurological conditions, palliative care for life limiting conditions, witnessing medical emergencies and other complex issues in addition to working with moderate to severe signs of anxiety and depression.
Attending a discovery consultation carries no obligation to proceed to Counselling Psychology sessions or EMDR therapy.
