About Amy
Coming to counselling can be a scary (and brave) step to take.
It involves opening up to a complete stranger about things you may have kept inside for many years.
I have been working in counselling and mentoring roles since 2010.
I have worked in a variety of settings including colleges, and schools, with private companies and outreach projects.
This has enabled me to assist clients on a practical level whilst also giving them the skills they need to move forward.
Prior to this, I worked in marketing and PR with independent record labels and musicians.
Psychodynamic Counselling with Amy Walshe
The core of my training was in the psychodynamic method of counselling which involves looking at how past patterns of behaviour may be influencing our present behaviour.
Psychodynamic Counselling also looks at how some of the ways we connect with others is communicated subconsciously meaning we are not always aware of how we may be relating to other people.
Think of it a little like an iceberg, while 10% is seen, much is under the surface. It is the part under the surface which is often determining which direction our lives take.
