Qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor
I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor in private practice, under the name Clarison Counselling, based in the Nottingham area (Edwalton).
I work in a non-judgemental, compassionate way to support my clients when issues have impacted their lives. I aim to facilitate change and growth, and I believe this occurs through the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client.
Journey into counselling
My journey into counselling started after I lost my identical twin sister and mum to breast cancer. I felt angry at the world; that no one understood what I was going through, and I struggled with people telling me “I know exactly how you feel” when all I wanted to do was to say that they didn’t. I decided to undertake an evening college course in counselling—and loved it.
Degree in humanistic counselling practice
I applied to the University of Nottingham, was accepted, and three and a half years later, in 2019, I graduated with a first-class Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Humanistic Counselling Practice. It has not been an easy path, but I am now qualified to support clients in the way I had hoped to.
