Denise Freeman profile details
About Denise
I’m passionate about people and excel at resolving problems.
I aim to understand your presenting issue in depth, look for patterns in relationships and current behaviour, and to work with you to formulate effective solutions.
Depending on your needs, I employ a wide variety of psychological models and techniques and work integratively. That is, using integrative psychotherapy, your therapy is tailored to your specific need for optimum results.
Interest in Psychology
My interest in psychology began in 1991 when I became interested in the psychographics of advertising.
In 1998, I volunteered as a counselor working with juveniles, obtained a MSc in Psychology in 2009 and was awarded, Doctor of Counselling Psychology (PsychD) in 2015.
I am a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and a member of the Health Care Practitioners Council (HCPC).
Having worked in the UK, Finland, Netherlands, U.S.A, Romania, Malaysia and Nepal, I have a rich, insightful, and balanced socio-cultural worldview.
How therapy works & What it can do for you
Shed light into your presenting issue, it’s origin and how it affects your behaviour.
Plan and define solid mental-health and wellness goals together.
Overcome fears, phobias or insecurities.
Cope with stress.
Make sense of past traumatic experiences.
Identify triggers that may worsen your symptoms.
Improve relationships with family and friends.
Establish a stable, dependable routine.
Develop a plan for coping with crises.
Understand why and what things bother you and what you can do about them.
The therapeutic relationship
The therapeutic relationship or the therapeutic alliance, is the close yet boundaried relationship between a psychologist and a patient.
It is the means by which a practitioner and a patient hope to engage with each other, and effect beneficial change in the patient.
In the therapeutic space, the practitioner works respectfully, confidentially and provides a safe, non-judgmental and open atmosphere where the affected individual can be at ease.
In working with a practitioner, it is important to feel that your therapist has the competency, skill set, and the honest desire to help you.
