Elizabeth Garret profile details

About Elizabeth

I have over 20 years experience of working with adults and young people aged 16+.

I have worked in a variety of settings and enjoy offering different approaches which I integrate to best match particular needs.

I also provide a creative space with a variety of media to use including clay, paint, postcards and miniature figures. Using the arts needs no previous experience, the focus is on self-expression rather than being artistic and is always invitational, not an expectation.

I have worked with a large range of presenting problems including physical, sexual and emotional abuse, self-harm and suicide, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, work-related issues, bereavement and loss, depression, identity, life stages, relationship issues, eating disorders, miscarriage, infertility, stillbirth and SIDS.

I am an Accredited Counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, whose ethical framework I abide by.

I am also an accredited counsellor with The Foundation for Infant Loss.

I have a diploma in Counselling and Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, a certificate in Advanced Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy as well as a diploma in Supervision from The Link.

Counselling

Counselling is a collaborative relationship where we both work together, in a supportive environment, on the things that may be troubling you.

Sharing a problem can be hugely beneficial and counselling provides a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult emotions.

It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who acknowledges your feelings and works towards helping you reach a solution.

What happens at the first meeting?
The first meeting is a 'get to know you' session where I will ask you some questions about yourself, including your date of birth, address, GP details etc. There will also be some forms, a Contract and Privacy Statement, for you to fill out and sign. We will also have time for you to talk about what you need from counselling and space for you to ask any questions you might have about the counselling process.
What happens during a session?
Sessions are there to provide you with a safe, supportive space in which we explore the difficulties you may be facing in life. Here, we will work together to make sense of exactly what you're feeling and find the right ways to help you feel better.
How much do you charge?
My rates are £50 a session.
What do you do with my data?
I will give you information at our first appointment which explains what happens to your personal data.
Is this a confidential service?
Yes, everything you disclose to me is completely confidential with the exception of safeguarding issues or if required by law. I am also required to have regular supervision which is carried out on a confidential basis using your first name only.
How regular are the sessions and how many do I need?
Appointments are usually weekly and are for 50 minutes. We will decide together how many sessions you might need. I usually offer open ended counselling where you are welcome to come for as long as you are benefitting.
How do I book?
I offer a no obligation half hour free consultation so you can decide whether you would like to work with me. If you decide to proceed then you can contact me by email at bethgarrett@labyrinthcs.co.uk or text/ring on 07425146464.

Working together

I offer a half-hour free telephone consultation as a first meeting. This is an opportunity for me to hear about your situation and for you to ask any questions and learn more about what I can offer. After this conversation, if you feel happy to work together, we can then arrange a regular weekly appointment time. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. My hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am.
